Seoul Opera House
A team of architects, urban designers and landscape architects produced a design concept for the Seoul Opera House Competition entry that came in second place. The landscape of The Performance Arts Center draws on the unique natural setting of Nodul Island. Bound by the waters of the ever changing flow of the Han River, the landscape, like a theatrical performance, transforms with the seasons, the times of days and the weather conditions to which it is very exposed. The Performance Arts Center landscape is comprised of the elements which in nature create a progression from lowland to mountain to clouds. Each area has a separate ecology and accommodates a variety of uses.Ricardo Romo-Leroux collaborated in the project as a team member while working at W Architecture and Landscape Architecture in a collaboration with Yamasaki.
