Dubai Masterplan I

A team of architects, urban designers and landscape architects produced a design concept for the Dubai Waterfront Canal District development. The design team took inspiration from the natural features of the local desert landscape. The outdoor elements in the Canal District make symbolic reference to the natural aspects of the surrounding desert such as oasis’s, wadis, and dry creeks. There is a series of waterfront edges, buffer zones, peripheral gardens, and streetscape that had to be incorporated into an overall cohesive design scheme. Ricardo Romo-Leroux collaborated in the project as a team member while working at W Architecture and Landscape Architecture in a collaboration with FXFowle.
